Official statement of 1933: "Twenty-four devices of the Atlantic Air Force team left this morning at 7.45 am, from Amsterdam (local time), the first unit, that of General Balbo, and two of its squadron, took off at 7.10 am; as the other squadrons have taken off at intervals, given the maritime traffic that runs from the early hours of the morning on the canal. The time that seemed good at 5 am, at the time of takeoff began to change. it had fallen under two hundred meters, and from time to time it rained, so that the few kilometers of mainland that separate Amsterdam from Ijmuiden were flown at a height of 30 meters .The first hour of flight on the sea was disturbed by clouds coming down to water, rain and fog: the luminaires had to fly like water, and in the second hour of flight the luminaires found a wonderful time, blue sky and calm sea, with a little of mist that has intensified to become fog on Scotland, on the Irish Sea and on Ireland during the third or fourth hour of flight. The equipment in Edinburgh aimed directly at Londonderry, where they happily arrived at 12.29 (local time) while the misty formations that had thickened a few hours before the team's arrival were dispersed across the bay."
