From l'Ala d'Italia 1933: "He was born in Messina on January 25, 1900. In 1918 he was a man at the front. In 1920 he became a long-term captain, then went out of the R. Naval Academy with the rank of ensign embarking on warships. In 1923 he was transferred to the R. Aeronautica and became a military pilot in 1924. He is decorated with a gold medal for aeronautical value for having participated in the Italy-Brazil Transatlantic Air Cruise."

From l'Ala d'Italia 1933: "He was born in Potenza on April 17, 1905. He qualified as a naval builder at the R. Nautical Institute of Naples in June 1921. Admitted to the R. Aeronautical Academy as a student of the Course «Aquila» on November 5, 1923; appointed pilot in October 1925."
